Quote of the Year

“What the new year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year.”

-Vern McLellan, Author

Hi, this is the GenWise team- we bring out this newsletter to help parents and educators to complement the work of formal schools and associated systems. We can help our children thrive in these complex times only by exchanging ideas and insights and collaborating on this. We are also a founder-member of the Gifted India Network- if you are interested in issues related to gifted education and talent development, an easy way to keep updated about talks, programs and resources is to join the Gifted India Network telegram channel (https://t.me/GiftedIndia).

We wish you all a Very Happy New Year 2022 and beyond! We had a great end to 2021 with the 15 students at the GenWise Winter Program that ended on Dec 30. The energy and excitement was absolutely amazing and a LOT happened in the span of 12 days. This week, we share some memories from the program.

You are invited to be an early member and beta-tester of the GenWise Club (ages 13-90), a community of interested students, parents, and educators. Check out this link for more about the club and how to join it. It is open to all in the current beta phase.

Join this conversation on learning, by commenting on our posts, or joining our club community for more regular and closer interactions.

Memories from the Winter Program

2 weeks of learning and excitement started drawing to a close with the graduation ceremony on the evening of Dec 29. Anjali and Khushi, 2 of the participants in the program, shared the highlights in their 4 minute presentation, which you can watch below.

Here are some things they shared-

“Each course helped me to be more open to different career options..”- Anjali

“We learned so many values and skills- like observation, thinking skills, out of the box thinking, and perseverance, especially in the course on forensic science”- Khushi

“I loved the limited phone time I got.. it felt really refreshing- not being on my phone the entire day…… the program improved my social skills which were damaged by the lockdown”- Anjali

The feedback from students and parents at the end of the program helped us realise how important this experience was for students- bonding with their peers and making new friends. Given the number of months students had spent cooped up at home, this was like coming up for air!!

Thank you for leading and organising such a beautiful and well thought about program. Dishti has gained immensely and this has been the best week, most memorable during the pandemic times.

She cannot stop praising the effort and warmth of the entire team and how she learnt so much from everyone present

-Hetal Bhavin Patel, Parent

We hope that 2022 will be the year of return to normalcy and that we have more such residential programs that energize both students and us!

Fingerprint analysis in the forensic science course
I like to move it, move it! at the DJ Night…
Residential Head, Eklavya and RC, Immanuel- caring for and energizing the students
Care to discuss Economics over lunch? with teacher, Ashish
Musical performance on talent nite
Everybody has art in them
The body must be nourished as much as the mind
The forensic science teachers- Ritu and Shristi have fun with the students after class
